All of our horseback riding lessons are taught on experienced, trustworthy horses and with knowledgeable trainers. All lessons are private, unless otherwise set up to be a group lesson. For group lessons, no more than 4 riders are able to ride at one time, due to space and availability of the horses.

Lessons are offered from 9-5:30, Tuesday through Sunday, with the exception of some major holidays. Please note that lessons are weather permitting.

How long are the riding lessons?

Lessons can either be a half hour ($40) or an hour ($75).

What is the age requirement?

None! We have riders as young as 2, as old as 90, and everything in between. There is also no requirement for previous riding experience; it doesn’t matter if you rode once 20 years ago, never ridden but always wanted to, got interested because of a friend or child, or have competed professionally. Our instructors will simply see where you are at and build from there, all while working inside your comfort zone and only going as far as you or your child are comfortable going that day.

Are the lessons private or group?

Every lesson is private unless it was specifically set up to be a group lesson (Ex. siblings riding together, parents and children riding together, friends riding together, etc).

Should I start with a half hour lesson or an hour?

We always suggest to start out with a half hour lesson, especially if the student is on the younger side. Once you or your child have had a handful of lessons, if hour long lessons are still an interest please feel free to ask about it at your next lesson.

Which horse will I/my child be riding?

Riders are paired with horses based on their size and ability. When you arrive at Thorberchon Farm for the first time, our knowledgeable staff will pair you with the best horse for your lesson.

How do I schedule a lesson?

The best way to schedule a lesson is to go to the Thorberchon Farm Facebook Page and to contact Dede directly. If Facebook is not an option, email, text, or calling are all options as well.
