Trail rides are a fun adventure for all ages and experience levels. Every trail ride consists of approximately an hour on safe, local trails, using experienced and trustworthy horses. For every thing from mothers day presents to just because, a trail ride makes a wonderful bonding experience and will create fond memories to be remembered for years to come.

We offer trail rides throughout the spring (once the snow melts) and in the fall (until the snow comes back). We do significantly fewer trail rides during the summer, due to the heat and the bugs making it very hard on both the riders and the horses.

Beach Rides

Beach rides are offered at Hampton Beach State Park seasonally when allowed by NH State Parks (between October 1 and April 30). Beach rides are weather permitting. The cost is $150 per person which includes 30 minutes riding on the beach as well as grilled hot dogs, drinks and snacks back at the trailers hanging with the horses. Please contact us for more information about our next scheduled beach ride.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the trail rides?

Every trail ride includes about an hour on the trail, with 15-30 minutes on either side for mounting/dismounting and basic safety training.

What ages/experience levels can go on trail rides?

Trail rides are open to any age and experience, although we suggest all new riders start with a half hour lesson prior to their trail ride to make sure they like it and are comfortable enough on a horse, since once we are out on the trail there will not be an opportunity to get off unless there is an emergency or other safety hazard.

What should I bring on a trail ride?

If you and/or your child have their own helmet, you are strongly encouraged to bring it. This does not have to be a riding helmet; bike helmets, ski helmets, or any other kind of protective head gear will be suitable. Helmets are available to borrow if needed. Close toed shoes are a must, and it is helpful if the shoes have a slight heel (1/4 to 1/2 and inch). The shoes do not need to be riding boots; any kind of close toed shoe (sneakers, other boots, etc) will be good. Boots are available to borrow as well, but sizes vary and proper fit is not guaranteed.

How much do trail rides at Thorberchon farm cost?

Trail rides cost $80 per person, with up to 4 riders able to ride at one time. Every trail ride is accompanied by at least one capable staff member to ensure safety.

Are trail rides western or english style?

Thorberchon Farm is a primarily English style barn, but if a rider prefers Western saddles we are able and willing to accommodate them.

How fast do you go on trail rides?

It depends on the comfort level, age, and prior experience of the riders. If everyone in the party is comfortable trotting/cantering out of the ring, we are more than willing to do so out on the trail, in sections where it is safe. We will not, under any circumstances, try and force you or your child to go faster than they are comfortable going.

How do I schedule a trail ride?

The best way to schedule a trail ride is to contact us through our Facebook page, linked below. If Facebook is not an option, text, email, and submitting the form on the home page of this site are all options as well.
